Renovating a bathroom is always an exciting experience. Out with the old and in with the new brings a sense of expectation, trepidation and a yearning to get the whole thing over and done with the least possible disruption, and within budget.
If you are on a budget, it's still possible to make some great modifications to your bathroom without breaking the bank. Installing a new vanity unit can add some space and style to your bathroom.

When considering purchasing a new bathroom vanity, you need to consider whether it needs to be constructed of moisture resistant material, the width of unit required, and whether you are going to use it to provide additional storage for towels etc.
Many bathrooms are prone to condensation, particularly smaller rooms with inadequate ventilation. Many bathroom vanity units are constructed of compressed fibre board materials, if these are not of a type that are water and moisture resistant, swelling of the boards can occur over time. Some of the more expensive units will be constructed of hardwood timbers; these are far more resistant to the damage seen on cheaper units.
When purchasing a vanity unit, consider whether it will be fitting into a restricted space, or whether the width is irrelevant. There are a number of different sizes, including 24, 30, 48 and 60 inch models. The 48 Bathroom Vanities being one of the more popular sizes. The 60 inch vanity is a good choice if space permits. The 60 inch models usually provide a good sized cupboard and additional shelving, great for storing towels and flannels.
A new vanity unit looks good in any bathroom, but I am particularly taken with the more antique styles with elaborately turned spindles and fancy mouldings. These look great in a period property. I particularly like the models with the stand-alone faucet sinks, which have a particular charm to them.
